The wine
list.
Two hundred and sixty bins, from a £6 glass of southern French white to first-growth Bordeaux and a shelf of Sassicaia. Burgundy and the Rhône in depth, English sparkling alongside Champagne, and a by-the-glass list long enough that you never have to commit to a bottle.
Glasses are poured at 125ml, 175ml and 250ml. Vintages change as bins run out; the team will tell you what has landed.
Six lists,
one cellar.

How to
read it.
The list is organised the way you would drink from it, not the way a wholesaler would file it.
By the glass
Everything on the first tab is poured by the glass in three sizes, so a table can drink across the list rather than around one bottle. Tasting notes are there because that is where you are choosing a single drink.
By the bottle
Grouped by country, then by region. Burgundy, Bordeaux, the Rhône and Tuscany run deepest; there is serious Rioja, and more English wine than most lists on the mainland carry.
Ask us
The cellar holds more than the list shows, and bins change as things sell out. If there is something you are after, or a budget you would like us to work to, say so and we will find it.
Wine
Evenings.
Seven courses, a five-wine flight and a guest host, for thirty-six guests in The Cellar. Announced to the list a month before they go public, and they have sold out every time.
Join the listThe room
behind the glass.
The two private dining rooms in The Cellar look directly into the wine room, and are named for two of the great vintages: The 1982 for 8 to 16 guests, The 1945 for 10 to 20. Menus and pairings are planned with the kitchen.
On selected dates, Thompson’s tasting menu is served in the same rooms, with a flight alongside it.
Before
you order.
The questions the floor team are asked most.
Can we bring our own wine?
We don’t operate a corkage policy as a rule. If you have a bottle with particular meaning, call us before your booking and we will see what we can do.
Do you serve wine by the glass?
Yes, extensively. Glasses are poured at 125ml, 175ml and 250ml across sparkling, white, rosé, red and dessert, starting at £6.
Is there a sommelier?
The floor team know the list well and are glad to guide you, whether you are choosing a £30 bottle or something from the back of the cellar.
Do you have English wine?
Yes. Wiston Estate Brut and Rosé and Folc English Rosé are on the by-the-glass list, with more by the bottle. Island and English producers appear whenever they earn their place.
Can we pre-order wine for a private dinner?
Yes, and it is the easiest way to run a party. Agree the wines in advance with your menu for The Cellar, or a set amount per head with a bar tab afterwards.
Is the list on the page the current one?
Yes. This page is the live list; vintages change as bins sell out and the page is updated with them. A printed copy is on the table.
Pull up a stool.
The bar serves from 9am to 10pm on the days we are open, and the whole list is available by the glass or the bottle.
