A Word on the FT’s Visit to RT Café Grill
We don’t tend to shout too loudly about things down here in Ryde — the view does a lot of the talking for us. But every now and then, someone turns up, sits down, and really gets what we’re doing.
So when the Financial Times came by and wrote a piece that managed to capture both the spirit of RT Café Grill and the gentle madness of opening something like this on the Isle of Wight, I was deeply chuffed.
They wrote about the food, of course — the oysters, the treacle bread, the lamb burger with minted red onion — but more importantly, they saw the bigger picture: a place rooted in where it is, aiming to do something honest, relaxed, and still properly delicious. No pomp, no frills — just good cooking and warm service in a building with stories in its bones.
