In September UBChef will be one year old. The journey that Robert and the team have taken has not been an easy one given the events of the past year but with enormous hard work and perseverance they have created a fantastic concept and here’s how the idea began. Since the beginning of the first lockdown, Robert had been delivering weekly two and three course meals locally on the Isle of Wight. Realising as lockdown was beginning to be relaxed, that he wouldn’t be able to reopen his eponymous restaurant in its current form, he decided to take his deliveries to a wider audience and so UBChef came into being.
“At the start of lockdown, I realised that in order for the restaurant to survive, I needed to develop another way of guests dining with us but without coming to the restaurant.”Robert
We decided that we could still provide an excellent dining experience and deliver it to guest’s doors for them to complete themselves and present to their friends and family – and so the ‘You Be Chef’ concept was born, and people really enjoyed the experience of producing restaurant food without having to start from scratch.
It became so popular even after some restrictions were relaxed, that we decided to roll the concept out country-wide and it’s grown exponentially from there. If you’ve always wanted to channel your inner chef then UBChef is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for!’
